Dr. Polacheck is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been doing individual and family therapy for over 10 years. He began his training in Berkeley, California in 1999 after a stint teaching at Long Beach Poly High School. He began working with young adults at the Salvation Army Drug and Rehab center. After this, Dr. Polacheck went back to working with children at the Family Institute of Pinole and the esteemed Ann Martin Children’s center. His last job in Northern California was as a therapist at the Wright Institute clinic.
Dr. Polacheck moved to Southern California to work for one year at the Switzer Center in an APA internship that worked with High School students in a non public school. It was at this time that Dr. Polacheck began working as a psychological assistant under Clifford Corman. Dr. Corman specialized in working with children with AD/HD. Dr. Polacheck and Dr. Corman conducted research in the area of medication titration based upon continuous performance tests.
Dr. Polacheck then worked as psychologist for ENKI mental health clinic in Los Angeles and opened a private practice in Orange County. In 2008, Dr. Polacheck began training graduate students and teaching graduate courses in Clinical Interview, Psychopathology, and Diversity at the Chicago School of Psychology in Los Angeles. Dr. Polacheck now maintains a private practice in Los Angeles as well as Orange County and specializes in counseling and working with children and young adults. The focus of his therapy is a combination of cognitive behavioral treatment, psychodynamic, and family systems approach.
Dr. Polacheck is also certified in sports psychology, drug treatment, supervision, working with depression, and other clinical areas.
